OFF

OFF is a role-playing game developed with RPG Maker 2003, whose original (French) version was released in 2008, followed by an English translation in 2011. It has since become a cult game in its own right. It is often compared to other works like Undertale or Mother, with which it shares some very characteristic elements.

Unzip and start playing instantly

To start playing OFF, unzip the file into a folder, install the five recommended fonts, and double-click the executable (RPG_RT.EXE). And that's it. A known issue when launching the game is that, with two monitors connected to your PC, the game window will not display correctly. The only solution here is to disconnect a monitor or choose the duplicate screen option in the Windows Display Settings.

A different kind of RPG

Like the games mentioned above,OFF is not an entirely conventional RPG. Combat, for example, although turn-based, has a dynamic cooldown system similar to the original Final Fantasy VII. As a result, the game encourages you to act fast. Similarly, the game features a large number of puzzles and some areas that completely change the game's overall look. And, of course, one of its most unique approaches is the way it constantly breaks the fourth wall.

Hidden secrets and alternative endings

Without giving away any spoilers,OFF has three different endings. Two of these endings will depend on a very specific decision that you are free to make in your role as Player. The third ending, on the other hand, known as the "space ape" ending, is a sort of joke related to the famous dog ending from the first Silent Hill. Another well-known secret is the optional fight against Sugar, the most difficult boss in the whole adventure.

An outstanding free RPG

Download OFF if you are a fan of role-playing games and, more specifically, if you like alternative RPGs, which try to go beyond the adventures of knights, princesses, dragons, and stories about saving the world from an ancient evil. Here you will meet an incredibly charismatic cast of characters, who will accompany you throughout an adventure that goes on for just as long as it should. You can finish the game in six or seven hours without any trouble.
